EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS
Do you want to find a job that interests you and is meaningful to you? Do you need help developing a resume and applying for employment?
Gateway offers an array of services to individuals 16 years of age and over seeking employment, returning to the workforce and/or experiencing barriers to employment. These services are designed to assist individuals in choosing, obtaining and maintaining employment.
Some of the types of employment programs we offer:
Individuals who participate in these services will get a thorough vocational assessment and have the opportunity to gain self-awareness and education on different career fields through a discovery process.
Some of the employments services available are:
Work Force One
This Non-Waiver Service is open to Ulster County residents with intellectual /developmental disabilities. It offers opportunities for vocational exploration, exposure and experience. Services included in this program are individual service planning, goal setting groups, site visits/informational interviews, vocational internship development, internship coaching and linkages to community resources.
Community Pre –Vocational
This program prepares people for paid employment or meaningful activities in two years or more. Tools used are discovery reports, community work experiences, volunteer experiences and career planning.
Pathway to Employment
This program prepares people for paid employment but in a shorter time period, usually one year. A discovery report is generated as individuals participate in work experiences and develop vocational goals.
Employment Training Program (ETP)
Through discovery, job development and intensive support employment in a year or less, this program provides access to internship opportunities at community businesses.
Supported Employment (SEMP)
SEMP provides individuals with job coaching, job development and life-long supports on a job. It is community based and prepares individuals for competitive and integrated.
Eligibility
Gateway’s Employment Services are offered to individuals with disabilities, students transitioning from school to work, individuals transitioning from public assistance to self-efficiency, and/or individuals with other barriers to employment. Services are funded by New York State Education Department Adult Career & Continuing Ed Services, Ulster County Department of Social Services, New York State Office of Mental Health, New York State Office of Persons With Developmental Disabilities and New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services.
